How does this work?
For selected awards, when updating a team member's pay rate you will be able to select their classification. These classifications have been made using the Fair Work guide as the minimum wage for each selected classification.
This allows you to set and forget your team members at the appropriate level.
You can also override these values per employee if you choose.
How do I migrate my existing team members?
You can individually update team member rates by selecting the appropriate value from the People tab, or use the Bulk Set Pay Rate from the people tab to do so:
Bulk setting classifications are also available within the People Import functionality.
Note: Deputy has migrated eligible team members to the new version. It remains your responsibility to assign the correct classification or level to each team member. Team members on Pay by Area agreements were not migrated.
What happens when the awards get updated by Fair Work?
Deputy's team of award experts periodically review the award and will update the classifications. If a team member is below the recommended value, they will automatically be upgraded to the new one. Communications of all such changes will be published and sent before updates are made.
What should I check?
These changes may alter existing set export codes to payroll providers. It is highly recommended to double check these on export. Instructions on how to do this are available here.
What other benefits do I receive from this?
All rates are editable using our Pay Rate Builder, giving you unprecedented flexibility and control over how you pay your team.
It allows you to take our pre-configured library pay rates and modify them to meet your unique requirements, whether that is by automating allowances, adding shift differentials or increasing payments, as well as driving overtime based on regular working hours.
In addition, if you subscribe to Deputy Payroll (AU), you can use this to set STP classifications of all of your pay rules.
How do junior rates work?
Juniors are still required to assigned with their correct base rate when being set up. However from this point on, each birthday their rate will automatically be increased to the next increment. For more, see here.
Can I add additional classifications?
Yes, classifications rates and labels are editable. For more, see here.
