1. Add and edit timesheet
If the Access column for this role’s permission contains a green check mark, a team member in this role will have the following permissions:
- Add a whole timesheet for themselves (without needing to clock in)
- Edit their own timesheet that is pending approval.
- Start a shift using the Deputy browser.
For example, a team member with this permission could clock in and out of a shift without having been scheduled. They could also change their timesheet’s shift start and end times and area worked. For more information about how Timesheets work see Introduction to Timesheets.
2. Clock in and out via mobile apps
If the Access column for this role’s permission contains a green check mark, a team member in this role can start and end shifts and breaks from the Deputy Mobile App. Learn more about the Deputy Mobile App here.
Note: In order to be able to clock in and out using mobile apps at a specific location, the “Clock in and out via mobile apps” setting also has to be ON in Location settings > Timesheets settings.
3. Clock in and out via iOS Kiosk or Android Time Clock apps without having to submit a photo
If the Access column for this role’s permission contains a green check mark, a team member in this role can clock in and out via the iOS Kiosk or the Android Time Clock without having to submit a photo. You may want to adjust this setting if you have made clocking in with a photo mandatory in the location’s settings, but you don’t want this rule to apply to certain roles.
4. Journal
Journals allow you to add notes about an employee's performance, either connected to an individual timesheet, or directly into their profile.
If the Access column for this role’s permission contains a green check mark, a team member in this role can view and post comments in the Journal for team members that they manage.
The employees that this role can manage are determined by 2 factors:
- Permissions assigned in the Global Visibility section of the Permission Table
- The role’s position with the Role hierarchy (Reports To and Also Reports To).
See creating a journal entry for more information.
