This article is written for employees who need to change or cancel an existing leave request that has already been submitted to their manager.

How do I cancel or change a leave request that is awaiting approval from my manager?
A staff member can always change or cancel a leave request if it is still in an 'Awaiting' approval state. This can be done via the Deputy web application or mobile apps (iOS & Android).
Via the Deputy website
Login to the Deputy website and click on your name in the top right corner and then click Profile.
A sidebar will appear with your employee profile. Here navigate to the 'Leave' section, and click View on the leave request that you want to change or cancel.
This will now open the details of the leave request, from here you may amend the
- dates of the leave request
- leave type
- comment
- notifying manager
and then Re-submit the leave request.
Or simply you can click Cancel Request to cancel the leave request and your manager will no longer need to action this.
Via Deputy mobile app:
You can change or cancel a leave request via the Deputy mobile apps (iOS & Android) if it is still in an 'Awaiting' approval state.
Navigate to the Home tab of your Deputy app and tap Leave.
From your list of leave requests, click which leave request you want to change or cancel.
You will be presented with the leave request details which you may change and then tap Update on the top-right-hand corner.
Or simply tap Cancel Leave Request if you want to retract and cancel the leave request.
How do I cancel or change a leave request that is already approved by my manager?
An employee can only change or cancel a leave request if it is already approved if both the following criteria are met:
- the leave request is for a future date AND
- the System Administrator of the Deputy account has enabled 'Allow employees to amend or cancel their approved leave request' within Business Settings > Leave.
Note: An employee can only change or cancel this approved leave request within the Deputy web app. This function is not supported on our mobile apps just yet.
Change or cancel approved leave via Deputy website:
Login to the Deputy website and click on your name in the top right corner and then click Profile.
A sidebar will appear with your employee profile. Here navigate to the 'Leave' section, and click View on the Approved leave request that you want to change or cancel. Reminder: it must be a future date you want to change or cancel and your system administration must allow the editing of approved leave.
This will now open the details of the leave request, from here you may amend the
- dates of the leave request
- leave type
- comment
- notifying manager
and then Re-submit the leave request.
Or simply you can click Cancel Request to cancel the leave request and your manager will no longer need to action this.
