What details can I update?
If your organisation has enabled the option, you can update your own employment information regarding:
- bank account for payroll
- superannuation details
- tax declaration
Note: your organisation may also have enabled the option for a manager to approve any changes you make before they are saved to your profile.
Don't forget you can also update other information such as preferred name, date of birth, emergency contacts and profile photos in your Deputy profile.
How to update your employment details on the Deputy mobile app
Log in to the Deputy iOS or Android mobile app.
Note: iPhone users must be on iOS version 16.4 or higher to use this feature.
On the Android app tap on the three lines at the top left-hand side of the screen and then select Employment details under the name of the organisation you wish to update details with.
On the iOS app, on the Home tab, tap on profile picture at the top left-hand side of the screen and then select Employment details.
Update bank account details
Tap on Bank details.
Tap on the eye icon to unmask the obscured sensitive information and view the information already captured within Deputy.
If you would like to change the information or add new information, tap on Update.
Add or update the:
- Account name
- BSB number
- Account number
then tap Submit.
If your organisation has enabled the option for managers to approve requests to change bank details then you will see a message informing you of this. You will also receive an email. You can view the request to see the old and new information awaiting approval.
If you need to make further updates, tap on Update and repeat the process.
Update superannuation details
Tap on Superannuation and view any information already captured in your profile.
If you would like to change the information or add new information, tap on Update.
Select whether you are entitled to superannuation payments. Read more information about this on the ATO website.
Choose whether you'd like superannuation payments to be made to:
- a superannuation find nominated by your organisation
- the superannuation fund you nominate
- your own self managed superannuation fund (SMSF)
If you select to nominate your own superannuation fund or a SMSF then you will need to complete further details such as:
- To select your own a superannuation fund you will need to supply the Supernannuation fund name and your member number
- To select your SMSF you will need to supply SMSF Electronic Serivce Address, SMSF Bank account name, BSB, Account number.
Click Submit once you are done.
If your organisation has enabled the option for managers to approve requests to change superannuation details then you will see a message informing you of this. You will also receive an email. You can view the request to see the old and new information awaiting approval.
If you need to make further updates, tap on Update and repeat the process.
Update tax declaration
Tap on Tax File Number declaration and view any information already captured in your profile.
If you would like to change the information or add new information, tap on Update.
Declare whether you have a Tax File Number (TFN).
- If you select YES you will be asked to enter the 9-digit TFN.
- If you select NO you will be asked to supply a reason why.
Select your pay basis from the following options:
- Full time
- Part time
- Casual
- Labour Hire
Note: If you are not sure of the correct selection for this question please check with your employer.
Select an option to declare whether you are:
- an Australian resident for tax purposes OR
- a foreign resident for tax purposes
- a working holiday maker
Specify whether you want to claim the tax-free threshold from this employer by selecting YES or NO.
Declare whether you have financial assistance such as a HELP, VS, FS, SSL or TSL debt by selecting YES or NO.

Click Submit once you are done.
If your organisation has enabled the option for managers to approve requests to change tax declaration details then you will see a message informing you of this. You will also receive an email. You can view the request to see the old and new information awaiting approval.
If you need to make further updates, tap on Update and repeat the process.
Manager approval
If your organisation has configured that you need manager approval to make changes to your employment details then you will see a timer icon against any details awaiting manager approval.
You will be notified by push notification on your mobile when your manager has approved or rejected your updates.
The employment details will then appear with a green tick next to them to indicate to you that they have been saved to your profile in Deputy.
You will also get an email notifying you when changes you have made have been approved by your manager.
If your changes were rejected then the manager will have supplied a reason. You can click the link to view and update your employment details again if needed.
How to update your employment details on a web browser
Log in to the Deputy website with your username and password.
On the top right-hand side of the page, click on the drop-down menu under your name and select Employment details.
Update bank details
In the Bank details section, if you already have information entered you can click on the eye icon to unmask the obscured sensitive information and view any information already captured within Deputy.
If you would like to change the information or add new information for the first time, tap on Update.
Add or update the:
- Account name
- BSB number
- Account number
then click Submit.
If your organisation has enabled the option for managers to approve requests to change bank details then you will see a message informing you of this. You will also receive an email. You can click View request to see the old and new information awaiting approval.
The request shows the fields that have been updated and are awaiting approval. Click Back when you have finished viewing the changes.

If you would like to change the information or add new information for the first time, click on Update.

Awaiting manager approval
If your organisation has configured that you need manager approval to make changes to your employment details then you will see a note under any details awaiting manager approval.
You will be notified by bell notification on your browser when your manager has approved or rejected your updates.
You will also get an email notifying you when changes you have made have been approved by your manager.
If your changes were rejected then the manager will have supplied a reason. You can click the link to view and update your employment details again if needed.
Can my manager make changes to these employment details without me?
Yes, your manager can update the information discussed in the above sections, even if you do not initiate a change yourself within the Deputy app or website.
However, you will receive an email to inform you whenever a change is made.
The email will tell you what type of information was changed and by whom. You can click on View my employment details to see the updated information.
If you did not expect or request these changes to be made, please get in contact with your manager immediately.
