Background
In Deputy, users can log in and upload a photo or any image as a profile picture. This picture will be uploaded to their global profile and shown in any business they have access to in Deputy.
When organizations use the Deputy Kiosk for iPad or Deputy TimeClock for Android to have their team clock into shifts and rely on facial recognition, then it's important for the photos used in employees' profiles to be as accurate and realistic as possible.
For this reason, some businesses may prefer to control the photos that are uploaded to their employee's profiles and not allow employees to upload their own photos or images.
How to enable this setting
By default, this setting is turned off and employees are able to upload their own photos to their profile.
If your business would like to control the photos uploaded to employee's profiles then a System Administrator will need to turn on this setting in Business settings.
1. In the menu under your name, on the top right of the screen, click on Business settings.
2. Select the People tab and look under the Profile details section. Find the "Manage Profile Picture" option and toggle it ON.
| Note: Business Settings has a new look. These updates are being gradually rolled out and will soon be available in all Deputy accounts. |

Who can update the employee photo in the profile?
Once a System Administrator has enabled this setting then only Location Managers and System Administrators will be able to update the profile pictures for team members in their business.
Please read Can managers add a photo on their team member's profile? for more assistance with uploading profile photos.
The photo the manager uploads will only be used by the Deputy organization it is uploaded to. If the team member is associated with a different organization in Deputy, perhaps if they work multiple jobs, then the photo uploaded will not be used there.
What happens if the employee later updates their photo in their own global profile?
Once a System Administrator has enabled this setting and the Location Manager or System Administrator has updated the profile pictures for team members in their business, your team members will still be able to upload a photo to their global profile in Deputy.
However, any photo uploaded by the employee will be stored at the global profile level and the photo will not override the photo uploaded by the manager since the organization has enabled the setting to manage the profile picture.
What happens if the employee has their photo updated in another business that also uses Deputy?
If another organization using Deputy updates the employee's profile picture in their organization, the profile picture for that employee in your organization will remain unchanged since your organization has enabled the setting to manage the profile picture.
