Accessing wage data in Insights
On the Deputy website, set up pay rates for each of your team members to see how much your scheduled and worked shifts cost.
After you have set up pay rates together with sales data, you can utilise labor percentage as a business metric.
Labor percentage (or payroll percentage) measures the total wages as a percentage of total sales in the selected location(s). You can use this information to optimise your schedule and control labor costs.
Accessing sales data in Insights
By connecting or inputting sales data on the Deputy website, you can also make use of the sales per hour business metric.
Sales per hour can help improve your business efficiency by giving insights into team member productivity and checking how many sales have been or could be earned per shift's hour.
How to connect or input sales data on the Deputy website
- You can connect your POS system for Actual Sales data upload to improve your ability to create an optimal schedule that matches revenue. Deputy can provide forecast sales figures based on your actual historical sales data and you can in turn use this to better schedule around anticipated revenue.
- Read Sales Data Integration and How to Build Set and Track Sales Forecasts for more information.
Note: If you can't connect your POS to Deputy directly, you still have the option to:
- enter actual sales data in Business Insights OR
- use a Dropbox Sales Integration OR

FAQs
Why aren’t my actual hours or wages updating even though my team members are working?
Actual hours and actual wages are only accrued from submitted timesheets. Hours and wages for a shift that is currently in progress will not be added to the total until the team member clocks out of their shift.
Why do I see dashes on some metrics?
If Actual Hours and Wages are dashed in the Today or This week timeframes:
-
This could be because team members have not clocked off for their shifts yet. Hours and wages of a team member only accrue when they have clocked off of their shift or if a timesheet has been created on behalf of them.
If Actual and Scheduled Sales are dashed:
-
This could be because you have not set up sales integrations or sales forecasts to access Sales related metrics (Sales, Sales per hour, Labor %). Read Accessing Sales Data in Insights for more information.
If Actual and Scheduled Wages are dashed:
-
This could be because you have not set up pay rates to see wages data. Read Set Up a Team Member's Pay Rates for more information.
If Scheduled Hours and Wages are dashed:
-
If no schedule has been created for a particular day or week, an empty state will display.
