Location Managers can only see information for the relevant team members at locations they manage in Deputy.
Note: If you have Shift Pulse+, you can also access an insights dashboard via the Engagement page on the People tab.
How to access the shift engagement reports
Click on Analytics then Shift Pulse and View Full Report.
How to filter the Shift pulse report
You can filter this report by:
- Location (Location Managers can only filter for locations they manage in Deputy)
- Date
When using the date selector you are effectively selecting a 7 day week period to display data for:
- The engagement summary chart will show the 7 day week for the date you select on the far right of the chart and 7 weeks before the selected week.
- The average shift score and reactions will be for the 7 day week you have selected with the date selector.
In the example below the 1st January was selected which is then depicted on the far right of the summary chart with the data for 1st - 7th January being reflected in the "This week" section of the report.
What do the reports show?
The Web report/dashboard shows:
- A graphical trend chart of ratings for the previous 8 weeks, with the week you have selected on displayed on the far right of the chart
- Shift pulse average calculated over the selected 7 days, where a score of 5 is the most positive and 1 is the least positive
- An absolute count and percentage calculations for the reactions for the selected 7 day period
- Ability to click on the reaction category and view the related comments for the selected 7 day period
In the example below for the 7 day period selected (24th June - 30th June) there were the following reactions:
0 x Happy reactions (5 points)
3 x Good reactions (4 points)
2 x Okay reactions (3 points)
0 x Frustrated reactions (2 points)
2 x Stressed reactions (1 point)
Therefore the average shift pulse score for the selected week is calculated as:
(4 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 1 )/ 7 = 2.9 points out of 5 points

Frequently asked questions
Is the emoji for shift engagement anonymous?
Yes, emoji responses are anonymous. Employees can add optional comments.
If our Deputy Kiosk is not connected to the internet will Shift Pulse still work?
No, if your Deputy Kiosk for iPad is running in offline mode it will not be able to access the shift pulse question when team members clock out.
Is Shift Pulse available for Android Time Clock?
No, at this time, only clocking out on the Deputy mobile apps (both Android and iOS) and Deputy Kiosk for iPad will trigger the Shift Pulse question.
When my team member is completing the shift sentiment question, are they on/off the clock?
The clock out is completed and then the shift sentiment question is asked, so the team member is off-the-clock when completing this question. It is important when you roll this out to make sure your team members understand this and that the completion of the question is optional.
Is the Shift Pulse required for every clock out?
No, a team member can 'flick' the pop-up or simply ignore the question and navigate to another part of the Deputy app or close the app.
Why should I use Shift Pulse?
If your business wants to truly capture candid feedback from all staff members and use that data to create action plans to improve workplace sentiment and engagement, this feature is for you. Receiving candid feedback is valuable, but can also be tough to hear, even for experienced managers.
I tried Shift Pulse, but I need to turn it off. How do I do this and what happens?
Shift Pulse can be turned off in the place that it was turned on (Business Settings). Once you turn this feature off this will have the effect of:
- no longer presenting Shift Pulse questions to your team members at the end of their shifts
- managers will not see any data on the Team engagement tab in the People page or on the Deputy mobile app
- The Shift Pulse Report on the Reports tab will display historical data (only if you have a Deputy HR subscription)
Can I print or export the Shift Pulse Report?
Currently you can only take a screenshot of the dashboard for the dates you have selected to display. The ability to export, download or print the Shift Pulse Report will be available in the future.
If I have suggestions for improving Shift Pulse, how can I let the Deputy product team know?
