This feature allows you to set up automatic pay rate increases on employee's birthdays.
Before you begin
You will need to ensure:
- you have read How to edit or create a pay rate
- you are logged into Deputy with an access level of System Administrator or Advisor
- your junior team team has the relevant pay rate assigned to their profile
- your junior team member has their birthday set in their profile
- your junior team member is younger than 21
Configure junior pay rates
To add junior pay rates to an existing pay rate:
1. Access Business settings in the drop-down menu under your name.
2. Go into the Pay Rate Builder through the 'Pay' tab by clicking View Pay Rates.
3. Select the Pay Rate you wish to edit. These updates will apply to all team members on this pay rate.
4. Go to the Regular Pay tab. Under Junior Rates, click Edit.
5. Fill in your organisation's appropriate pay rate values for each age.
You can either fill this in as a:
-
percentage of regular rate. Note that if you select this option, this value should be entered as the adult wage in the Regular Rates section.
OR
- flat per hour value.
Don't forget to click Save when you have entered your rates.
FAQs
Can I still manually set a team member's pay rate in their profile?
Yes, even if you use junior rates to automatically update pay rates according to the team member's age you can still set a pay rate for an individual team member in their profile if you need to.
When is the pay rate updated when using junior rates?
On the team member's birthday, Deputy will check their current regular rate. Their pay rate will be automatically updated to the appropriate age value unless their current regular rate in their profile is higher.
If the current regular rate set in their profile is higher than that configured for the junior rate settings then the current rate will be retained and not updated.
What if the team member is younger than 15 or older than 21 years old?
Team members younger than 15 will receive the 15 year old value, and team members older than 21 will receive the 21 year old value.
What if I don't enter pay rate values for every age bracket?
If you only enter pay rates for, say, team members up to 17 years old, and leave the remaining age fields empty then team members who are older than 17 years old will receive the 17 year old rate.
