This guide explains the settings System Administrators can customise within Shift Pulse+ if you have a Deputy HR subscription. Before you begin configuring your settings please ensure you have read Introduction to Shift Pulse.
Note: you can still use Shift Pulse+ without a Deputy HR subscription but you will be limited to using the Deputy default Shift Pulse question and settings and you will find the setting described in this guide will be greyed out in your Deputy account.

Shift Pulse question
The Deputy Shift Pulse default question in your account will be "How did you feel during your shift today?" However, you can also change this to "How are you feeling today?" or you can write your own question by selecting this option and entering the question in the text box.
Maximum frequency
Customise how often your team will see the Shift Pulse question:
- Once every day
- Once every shift
- Once every 7 days
- Once every 14 days
- Once every 30 days
Pulse rating
Customise the 5 ratings your team will be presented with to answer. Please ensure the most positive label is always at the top and the least positive at the bottom to maintain consistency with historical reporting over time.
You click in the text box to edit the labels for each of the five ratings (up to a 70-character limit per label).
You can click on the drop-down menu to select alternative emojis for each of the five ratings remembering to keep the most positive at the top of the scale and the least positive at the bottom.
Roles
Shift Pulse defaults to all team members being presented with the Shift Pulse question regardless of their role in your Deputy account but you can select specific roles if you want to, say restrict the Shift Pulse question to only be presented to users with Employee and Supervisor role within Deputy for instance.
Click to select the roles you wish to apply the Shift Pulse question to from the drop-down menu.
Locations and Areas
Shift Pulse defaults to all Locations and Areas in your Deputy account being presented with the Shift Pulse question but you can use the location selector to select specific Locations and Areas.
Use the arrows on the left-hand side of the menu to expand and collapse Locations and reveal Areas or use the Search field to find the Location or Area you require. Click the check box to select a Location or Area and once you are happy with your selection don't forget to click Done at the bottom of the menu. A counter shows how many selections you have made.
Saving your settings
Once you are happy with your Shift Pulse+ setting configuration don't forget to click Save.
Now you are ready for your team members to start responding to the optional shift pulse question and to review your team engagement reports.
Updating or editing your settings over time
If you have been using Shift Pulse for some time in your Deputy account and then decide to later update your question or labels please be aware that the change will overwrite all historical data in the existing Shift Pulse report.
You will receive the following warning before any new settings are applied:
This change will affect historical reports. Your response data for the previous question will become inaccurate.
Updating the Shift Pulse question name and responses will overwrite all previous data. The reports will not differentiate between old and updated questions and the most recent question and emojis will always be reflected in the report.
