If you have a scheduled shift later today but find you have been called in to work in another area before your scheduled shift starts, you can still clock in for this as an unscheduled shift on:
- Deputy mobile apps
- Deputy website
- Deputy Web Time Clock
- Deputy Kiosk for iPad
- Help! I still can't clock in for an unscheduled shift
Deputy mobile apps
1. On the Home tab, tap on the three dots next to the Start shift button and then tap Start in another area.
2. Select the area you are working in and add a comment as to why you are working this unscheduled shift then tap Start shift. The shift will begin in the area you selected and is displayed as Unscheduled on the home tab. You can then clock on and off for breaks as required.
3. When you want to finish working the unscheduled shift, tap on the red cross and then End shift.
4. The Home tab should now display your scheduled shift. You can tap Start shift whenever you are ready to clock on.
After you have clocked off you can see that both the unscheduled and scheduled shifts now appear on the Timesheet tab. Note: the example below uses autorounding on timesheets, hence the difference between actual clocking time and timesheet times.
You can also similarly clock in for an unscheduled shift before your scheduled shift on other devices logged into Deputy:
Deputy website
Once you have logged into Deputy on your web browser, click the Me tab, click on the down arrow next to the Start shift button and select Start in another area.
Deputy Web Time Clock
Once you have entered your PIN to log into the Deputy Web Time Clock in your workplace, click on the pencil icon next to the area you are scheduled to work in. You can change this area and then start the unscheduled shift.
Deputy Kiosk for iPad
Once you have logged into the Deputy Kiosk for iPad in your workplace, tap on the Area field you are scheduled to work in. You can change this area and then start the unscheduled shift.
Help! I still can't clock in for an unscheduled shift
- If you find that the above steps do not work for you and instead they just change the area of your scheduled shift, then your manager may need to adjust the workplace location settings to allow unscheduled shifts to be clocked into on the same day as a scheduled shift.
- If you find that you are unable to clock in for an unscheduled shift because you aren't trained in that area please talk to your manager as they may have enabled a setting to enforce this.
