How to access the integration marketplace
Open the drop-down menu under your name on the top right-hand side of the screen, then click on the link to access Integrations.
You can see which integrations are already connected to your account when you select the Connected tab.
Use the Location drop-down menu to see which integrations are connected to each location.
You can add new integrations on the Add more integrations tab.
Filter for integrations that are relevant to you
- Region - Use this filter to find integrations supported in these regions.
- Category - Use this to find integrations focused on particular features. e.g. Payroll, Point of sale
- Search for your integration - you can quickly type to search for an integration's name if you know what you're looking for.
You will see that each integration has a label indicating who built and supports the integration. In the example below, Deputy built and supports the integration between Square and Deputy, however, a 3rd party built the integration between Lightspeed Series X and Deputy.
How to connect an integration
Deputy integrations
For many Deputy integrations, such as Xero (labelled with DEPUTY) simply click on the tile in the Integrations marketplace and follow the below instructions:
-
Click on the Connect new location button on the top right of the screen.
-
Choose the location in Deputy you want the integration to connect to and click Connect.
-
Follow the prompts to log into the other system and authenticate your identity.
-
After successfully logging in, click on the Connected locations tab in Deputy to find the connection.
-
Click to open it and click Configure to finish setting up your integration.
For help with connecting and configuring third-party systems, browse our Help centre for integration specific help articles such as Xero, MYOB, Lightspeed Kounta, Square and Vend.
Other Deputy integrations (Beta)
Some Deputy integrations including Paychex and Paylocity will require you to connect to authenticate and then configure the integration within Deputy. Click the relevant tile in the Integrations marketplace and follow the instructions below:
1. Connect Add on on the top right of the page.
2. Choose the Deputy location you want the integration to connect to and click Connect.
3. Follow the instructions provided in the pop up to authenticate your identity with the service you have selected to connect to. Each service may have a different process. You will need to be an administrator level user within the other application to be able to access required information from those platforms such as API keys.
4. After you have successfully authenticated your credentials and connected to Deputy click Finish and you will return to Deputy to map your integration settings.
Configure which locations in Deputy will match your connected system locations.
Choose whether to send imported employees from your connected system an email invite to join Deputy. You can leave this unchecked for now, and invite them later if you wish.
Choose whether you wish to sync changes from your connected system to Deputy every 24 hours then click Start import.
Once the import has completed you will receive a report of how many employees were imported and if there were any errors such as invalid email address.
3rd party integrations
These integrations, such as EposNow, have been built by parties other than Deputy. They will be labelled 3RD PARTY in the Integrations marketplace.
To initiate a connection to one of these systems you will need to contact the third party directly as Deputy is unable to initiate the connection.
Disconnecting your integration
Open the drop-down menu under your name on the top right-hand side of the screen, then click on the link to access Integrations.
Click on the name of the connected integration you wish to disconnect.
Click on Configure for the Location you want to disconnect
Click on the red Disconnect add-on button
Note: Disconnecting the integration will remove all data and tokens associated with that user and the integration so if you choose to connect again later on you may need to again verify you have the proper credentials to connect to the other system.
For some integrations, you can simply disconnect the integration by clicking the red Disconnect without needing to select any locations.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find more information on connecting and configuring my Integration?
Check out our Integration collection of help articles for more assistance integrating with Deputy or contact our 24/7 support.
As a third party, can I add new integrations?
Not at the moment. You are still welcome to build integrations using our existing API.
My integration doesn't seem to be connecting. My integration service doesn't show on the integration page even though I activated it.
If you have successfully logged in to your third-party account and connected your integration to Deputy but it's not showing on the integration page, try refreshing your browser. Sometimes it can take a few seconds to appear.
Similarly, after you activate an integration service or extension, if it doesn't appear in the list then refresh your browser before you try to add it again.
I have multiple Xero organisations within my Xero account - how do connect the correct Xero file to the correct Deputy Location?
You will need to select the correct organisation in Xero from the dropdown list when connecting to Xero as described in this article.
I have multiple Gusto accounts and only want to connect one to my Deputy account - how do I do this?
Deputy has recently started a BETA of the strict mode from Gusto which allows you to choose a specific Gusto company when connecting the integration. Please contact our support team to have your installation enrolled into this BETA.
Where can I find the Deputy notifications & extensions?
All the Deputy notifications are located in an integration called "Deputy Extensions".
I can't see the Integrations link in my drop-down menu
