| Note: From October 1st, we're introducing new plans that better reflect how our customers use Deputy: Lite, Core, and Pro. If you're an existing customer, look out for an email soon with all the details you’ll need. Learn more about the new plans and what this change means for you. |
A location code is an alphanumeric code, between 3-6 characters long, assigned to each location within your Deputy account. You'll see it used in a few places, including:
- Reports
- Timesheets: It's the code used when exporting timesheets. If you're using a compatible payroll system, it helps match timesheets with the relevant cost center.
- Schedules: In some print formats - like printing schedules by team member in Excel - you'll see the location code instead of the location name.
When you create a location, the system automatically generates a code using the first three characters of the location name. However, you can customize the code as needed.
As a best practice, we recommend assigning a code that your team members can easily recognize and associate with the location.
How to edit a Location code

1. On the Locations page, click Edit Settings for the location you would like to edit.
