Using Deputy Kiosk for iPad (legacy) for offline clock-in

The Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy) has been discontinued and replaced by the Deputy Time Clock. Offline clock-in isn't currently available in Deputy Time Clock. If your workplace requires team members to clock in and out when the kiosk device doesn't have an internet connection, you can continue using Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy) for offline clock-in.

When should I use Deputy Kiosk for iPad?

Use Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy) only if your workplace needs team members to clock in and out when the kiosk device is offline.

If you don't need offline clock-in, use Deputy Time Clock.

What are the limitations of Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy)?

Before installing Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy), be aware of these limitations:

  • Offline clock-in only: Use this app only when your workplace needs team members to clock in and out without an internet connection.
  • No new features: The app is no longer in active development and won't receive new features or functionality available in Deputy Time Clock.
  • Limited support: Deputy Support can help with offline clock-in issues, but feature requests for this app won't be actioned.
  • Future retirement: Once offline clock-in is available in Deputy Time Clock, this app may be retired.

How do I install Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy)?

Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy) isn't available through App Store search. 

To download and set up:

  1. Download by using this direct App Store link on the iPad you intend to use as your kiosk. 
  2. Follow these instructions for Setting up the Deputy Kiosk for iPad.

Tip: If the link doesn't open the App Store listing, make sure you're opening it on the iPad rather than a desktop browser and that you're signed in to an Apple ID.

How does offline clock-in work?

When Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy) is set up for offline clock-in:

  • Team members can clock in and out when the kiosk device doesn't have an internet connection.
  • Timesheet entries are stored locally on the device.
  • When the device reconnects to the internet, the entries sync with Deputy.

Deputy has moved to the unified Deputy Time Clock experience that is available on all devices. This means that all new Kiosk features and improvements can be delivered in one place.

No. Use Deputy Kiosk for iPad (Legacy) only for offline clock-in.

For other Kiosk features, use Deputy Time Clock, which is actively developed and supported.
