| Note: From October 1st, we're introducing new plans that better reflect how our customers use Deputy: Lite, Core, and Pro. If you're an existing customer, look out for an email soon with all the details you’ll need. Learn more about the new plans and what this change means for you. |
This feature allows you to set up automatic pay rate increases on employee's birthdays.
Note: Junior Rates aren't auto-assigned in Deputy based on a team member's age. The system only triggers updates to the correct junior rate on the team member's birthday, so manual assignment of a junior rate is required initially.
Before you begin
You will need to ensure:

- your junior team member is younger than 21
Note: Junior Rates aren't auto-assigned in Deputy based on a team member's age. The system only triggers updates to the correct Junior Rate on the team member's birthday, so manual rate assignment is required initially.

FAQs
Can I still manually set a team member's pay rate in their profile?
Yes, even if you use junior rates to automatically update pay rates according to the team member's age you can still set a pay rate for an individual team member in their profile if you need to.
When is the pay rate updated when using junior rates?
On the team member's birthday, Deputy will check their current regular rate. Their pay rate will be automatically updated to the appropriate age value unless their current regular rate in their profile is higher.
If the current regular rate set in their profile is higher than that configured for the junior rate settings then the current rate will be retained and not updated.
What if the team member is younger than 15 or older than 21 years old?
Team members younger than 15 will receive the 15 year old value, and team members older than 21 will receive the 21 year old value.
What if I don't enter pay rate values for every age bracket?
If you only enter pay rates for, say, team members up to 17 years old, and leave the remaining age fields empty then team members who are older than 17 years old will receive the 17 year old rate.
Can pay rates decrease year-on-year as team members get older?
No, the subsequent pay rate must be of greater value than the previous year's rate for it to automatically update.
