This guide will walk you through the ways to change the language within the Deputy app.

Getting Started

Please note that changing the language requires you to change the system's language, meaning your entire phone and all your apps will change to the desired language. 

All Deputy system items will change languages. Any entered data, such as names, tasks, news feed posts etc. will remain in the language they were entered in, and will not be translated when you change the system language.

Supported Languages

The Android Kiosk currently supports:

  • English

In addition to the above, the iOS Kiosk supports:

  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean

In addition to the above, the iOS and Android apps support the following:

  • Thai
  • Indonesian
  • Vietnamese

iOS Kiosk

Navigate to the Settings page on your iPad. From here, tap 'General', then scroll down and press 'Language & Region'.

From here, tap 'iPad Language' and selected one of the supported languages as listed at the top of this guide.

For the purposes of this guide, we will select 'Chinese (Simplified)'. Tap 'Done' when you have selected your desired language, then press 'Continue' when prompted to confirm the change.

Now open the Deputy Kiosk app and you will find that it has switched over to the language you have selected. Note that if you have entered any data in English, it will appear as such, including business and location names, and employee names.

All the current wording however, will have changed to the new iPad language.

iOS

First, find and select 'Settings' on your home page.

Now select 'General'.

Scroll down and select 'Language and Region'.

Now tap 'iPhone Language'.

Scroll through the list of languages until you find the one you want to use. In this example, we'll select Français (French).

You will be prompted to select whether you want to change the system language to French. Tap 'Change to ________' to change the language.

The iOS device will dim the screen as it processes the change. This may take a few seconds.

Once you open the Deputy app, you will see the changes. Please note that changing the language will result in Deputy system words being translated. If entered data such as a name, task, or news feed post was originally typed in English, this will remain in English and will not be translated.

Android

Please note: The following instructions are correct for Samsung handsets running Android 7.0. While the instructions may vary based on your handset and Android version, the steps below can be followed loosely for your own device.

To begin, swipe down from the top of your screen to bring up the notification bar, then tap the gear icon to bring up the phone's settings menu.

From here, scroll down and tap 'General management'. A non-Samsung device may have this labeled differently.

Tap 'Language and input'.

Now tap 'Language'.

Now tap 'Add language'.

In the menu that appears, select one of the nine supported languages. In this example, we'll select Spanish/Espanol.

After selecting your language, you will be redirected to the language page. To get Deputy to display in the selected language, click 'Edit' in the top right-hand corner.

After tapping 'Edit' you will see the list change to the following:

Now tap and hold the language you would like to use and drag it to the top of the list. Your list should look like the following:

Now press the Home button/close the Settings menu and open up the Deputy app. You'll notice that the app has changed to the newly selected language.
