| Note: From October 1st, we're introducing new plans that better reflect how our customers use Deputy: Lite, Core, and Pro. If you're an existing customer, look out for an email soon with all the details you’ll need. Learn more about the new plans and what this change means for you. |
Deputy accounts in the US who wish to use new hire onboarding will need to record their business number in Deputy as part of the set-up process.
There are two ways System Administrators can enter your business numbers in Deputy:
- One business number for your whole organization
- Different business numbers for each Location set up in your Deputy account
Add one business number for your whole organization
If you have only one business number for your whole organization represented in Deputy you can enter it in Business Settings.
1. Click on Business settings in the drop-down menu under your name on the top right-hand side of the screen.
2. On the General tab under the Workplace details section, click to toggle ON the setting to apply the "Business number" to all locations in your business.
| Note: Business Settings has a new look. These updates are being gradually rolled out and will soon be available in all Deputy accounts. |

Once you have entered your business number you can continue setting up new hire onboarding in your account.
Different business numbers for each Location set up in your Deputy account
If you have different business numbers (EIN) for each Location set up in Deputy you can enter them in the Location settings.
1. On the Locations tab, click on Edit Settings for the location you wish to add a business number for.
2. On the General tab you can enter your business number into the Business Number field. Click Save.
Note: if you set business numbers at a Location level and then later decide to change your business number to be set at an organizational level then that number will override the number you have set at a location level. Furthermore, the field in the location setting will be grayed out and no longer able to be edited as shown below.
Errors
Note: Attempting to onboard a new hire in a location without a business number entered will result in an error and you will unable to onboard the new hire.
Once you have entered your business number you can return to setting up new hire onboarding.
