To apply for leave using the app, make sure you’ve downloaded the Deputy mobile app and signed in to your account.
If you need help setting up the app, see Getting started as an Employee in Deputy.
You can apply for leave in the Deputy mobile app on both iOS devices and Android devices.
Note: The screenshots below were taken on iOS. If you're using Android, some buttons or navigation may look slightly different.
Submitting a leave request on the mobile app
1. On the Home tab, go to the Time off section and tap Add leave.
2. On the next screen, select the date(s) you wish to request leave for using the From and To fields.
If you're requesting time off that is not a full day, tap the the All Day toggle to turn it off and enter the specific time of day.
4. Select a Leave Type.
5. Tap Notify managers and select the relevant manager(s) to review your leave request. You can use the search bar to find managers by name.
Note: Some employers may allow or require you to upload a supporting document, such as a medical certificate or fit note for sick leave. This depends on your employer's settings. We cover FAQs about uploading leave request documents in this section below.
Supported document uploads:
- Up to 5 documents per leave request
- Maximum file size: 10 MB per document
- Supported file types: PDF, PNG, JPEG, JPG or HEIC
6. If needed, use the Comment section to add additional notes for the approving manager(s). This step is optional.
7. Tap Add leave to complete the Leave Request and it will be sent to your manager.
You're able to change or cancel submitted leave requests on your iOS device until they have been approved by your manager.
After the leave has been approved you can no longer change or cancel it from your mobile Deputy app but may be able to change or cancel it by logging in via our Deputy web application.
Note on supporting leave documents: You can make changes and manage leave documents regardless of the leave request status.
FAQs about uploading leave request documents
I can't see the option to upload a supporting document (shown above). Why?
The option to upload supporting documents may vary depending on the leave type and your employer's settings. If you think you should see the Documents upload option but don't, check your workplace's leave requirements or speak with your employer or manager.
Why are my supporting documents not uploading properly?
Check that your document is a supported file type before trying to upload it again. Each file can be up to 10 MB and must be one of the following formats: PDF, PNG, JPEG, JPG or HEIC.
You can upload up to 5 documents per leave request.
What supporting documents might be required?
Your employer determines what information is required for supporting documents. If you're unsure what to include, it's best to check your workplace's leave policy or ask your employer before uploading your document.
