If you know in advance that you can't work certain days or times, you can use Deputy to let your manager know so they can try and avoid scheduling you during that period.
In Deputy, we call this setting an unavailability.
When you set an unavailability in Deputy, it does not mean that you can't or won't be scheduled by your manager. They will only take it under consideration and may still choose to schedule you. If you definitely can't work then you are advised to instead submit a leave request.
You can set an unavailability in Deputy via:
- Deputy website and clicking on your profile in the menu under your name
- Deputy Kiosk for iPad
- Deputy mobile apps
When setting an unavailability you have the option to set it as:
- A single day
- A time range on a single day
- A date range
- Recurring every
- Week
- 2 Weeks
- 4 Weeks
- Monthly on a day of the week
- Monthly on a date
You can't edit any unavailabilities that you have set but you can delete them and set new ones.
Your manager may choose to block certain dates to not allow team members to add unavailability or they may disable the ability for employees to add unavailability at all. If you can not add unavailability, please speak to your manager.
