Leave management in Deputy refers to the administration of the paid or unpaid time that team members have off, away from work.
You can configure your own leave policies within Deputy to monitor your team members' leave entitlements and to assist you in complying with the relevant legislation regarding leave for your team.
When managing leave within Deputy with Deputy Payroll enabled, there are several considerations to understand:
- Not all leave can be managed in the same way. For some leave rules it makes sense for employees to be able to monitor their leave balance and request leave, such as Annual or Personal Career's Leave, but for other leave types, such as Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave or Paid Parental Leave it may not be suitable to have this leave visible within Deputy but instead manage leave payments directly within Deputy Payroll.
- Once payroll is enabled in Deputy, the source of truth for leave accrual will be Deputy Payroll for these three leave types:
- Annual Leave
- Personal Carer's Leave
- Long Service Leave
- For other leave types in Deputy, leave timesheets will still automatically flow to payroll, but the manager must manually manage the leave balance for these leave types as they will not be accrued automatically within Deputy Payroll.
Read a more detailed discussion of managing leave for each of the NES leave types in Deputy Payroll, but the general flow for leave management in Deputy is described as follows:
